Michigan State forward Xavier Booker has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. He spent two seasons with the Spartans.

Booker made 33 appearances and two starts at MSU this season. He averaged 4.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 12.8 minutes per game while shooting 41.7% from the field and 23.3% from beyond the arc. He shot 2.2 3-pointers per game.

Booker had his best performance of the season in Michigan State’s blowout win over Oakland on Dec. 17. In the victory, he tallied a career-high 18 points and six rebounds in just 17 minutes of action.

Booker played in MSU’s first-round win over Bryant in the NCAA Tournament but didn’t play again during the Spartans’ run to the Elite Eight. After MSU’s season-ending loss to Auburn, Booker addressed his future with the program.

“It’s sad to see it end, but we got more work to do over the summer,” Booker said. “Right now, I’m kind of just trying to take it in, just take everything in and especially to cherish these last moments with the seniors.

“It was a long year. We all built great bonds with each other throughout the whole year. So it definitely sucks to see everything end the way it did. You look at it back in a few days or a week from now and can be proud of the overall picture and everything we had accomplished this year.”

Booker played in 27 games and made two starts in his true freshman season but saw limited action. He only averaged 9.3 minutes per game.

Xavier Booker played high school basketball at Cathedral (IN), where he was a five-star prospect. He was the No. 14 overall player and No. 2 center in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Booker was the highest-rated commit to ever commit to Michigan State under head coach Tom Izzo. He was a Third-Team Naismith High School All-American and selected to play in the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Game.

Now, Xavier Booker will look to reach new heights in a new environment. He is the third Michigan State player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Tre Holloman and Gehrig Normand entered the portal earlier in the day on Tuesday.
