Michigan State freshman wide receiver Aziah Johnson plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Michigan State redshirt freshman wide receiver Aziah Johnson plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to his agency, A&P Sports Agency. On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed the news on Friday evening. This year, he hauled in 16 catches for 276 receiving yards and two touchdowns for the Spartans.
In 2023, Johnson played in just four games (Richmond, Rutgers, Michigan, and Minnesota) to preserve his redshirt season. He also made six appearances on special teams. Johnson also played on offense two snaps against Richmond in his college debut.
The Virginia native played his high school football at Thomas Jefferson High School (Richmond, Virginia), where he was tabbed as a three-star prospect and the No. 920 overall player in America, according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2023 cycle.
He was ranked as the No. 23 prospect in the state of Virginia. A dynamic two-way player, Johnson earned both offensive and defensive Region 2A Player of the Year honors. He was named first team all-state as both a wideout and defensive back, to go along with second team all-state honors as a punt returner.
