Michigan State guard Tre Holloman plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Michigan State guard Tre Holloman plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed this report. Holloman spent three seasons with the Spartans.
He made 37 appearances and 16 starts this season. Holloway averaged 9.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 23.1 minutes per game while shooting 37.3% from the field and 32.9% from beyond the arc.
Hollman was instrumental to the Spartans’ run to the Elite Eight. He scored double figures in three of Michigan State’s four NCAA Tournament games. Alas, Holloman went cold in MSU’s season-ending loss to Auburn, shooting 0-10 from the field and scoring just two points.
Holloman’s most memorable moment from this season was in MSU’s 58-55 win over Maryland on Feb. 26. In the Big Ten showdown, Holloman launched a prayer from beyond halfcourt at the buzzer and sunk it as time expired to boost MSU to victory.
In his three seasons at Michigan State, Holloman totaled 106 appearances and 18 starts. He saw action in his freshman and sophomore seasons as well but didn’t contribute nearly as much as he did this season. In fact, Holloman was one of two team captains for MSU this season.
Tre Holloman played high school basketball at Cretin-Derham Hall, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 99 overall player and No. 18 point guard in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

As a senior at Cretin-Derham Hall, Holloman averaged 8.8 points, 10.4 assists, 8.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game. For his efforts, he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Minnesota.
Tre Holloman is the first Michigan State player to announce his intentions to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Shortly after his announcement, MSU shooting guard Gehrig Normand also declared he will be entering the portal.
In the past, MSU has suffered minimal losses to the portal. Excluding this offseason, Michigan State has only lost seven players to the transfer portal since 2020. Now, Spartans head coach Tom Izzo will already have two spots to replace on his roster this offseason.
