Michigan State lands commit from Indiana EDGE James Schott
Greenwood (Ind.) Center Grove senior EDGE prospect James Schott has had a change of heart.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder originally committed to Miami of Ohio on June 28. But he said Friday afternoon that he has backed away from that pledge and is now committed to Michigan State.
“After a lot of thought and talk with my family, it comes with great excitement I am committing to Michigan State University,” Schott said on social media.
In the post, James Schott thanked Spartan defensive line coach Ron Burton. He also thanked head coach Mel Tucker for the offer and the opportunity.
“East Lansing, here we come,” Schott said.
James Schott took an unofficial visit to Michigan State this past weekend to watch the Spartans beat rival Michigan in one of the biggest games of the college football season.

That environment, along with a recent offer from the Spartans, was enough to get him to flip his commitment.
Schott also had scholarship offers from Ball State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Illinois State and Northern Illinois.
Schott’s Center Grove squad is 10-o on the season and faces Columbus North in a state playoff game Friday night. Schott has 34 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss and averages 3.4 tackles a game in 2021.
