Michigan State wide receiver Jayden Reed apparently out for second half with injury
Michigan State wide receiver Jayden Reed has not been in the Spartans’ game against Akron since exiting late in the first half with an injury. Reed made a catch along the sideline before careening into the Akron bench and coming up hurt.
Reed walked off under his own power but with a clear gimp. He was not on the field warming up for the second half, as noted by The Detroit News’ Matt Charboneau.
Charboneau noted that freshman wideout Germie Bernard replaced Reed in the offense.
Things got really edgy for MSU on the first offensive series of the half when it appeared the Spartans turned the ball over and quarterback Payton Thorne were hurt on the same play. However, a flag nullified the pick and Thorne’s backup, Noah Kim, led a swift touchdown drive. Thorne has since reentered the game.

Head coach Mel Tucker provided two important injury updates Monday regarding two of his defensive starters in linebacker Darius Snow and safety Xavier Henderson, who both went down with injuries in the second quarter in Saturday’s game versus Western Michigan and never returned.
Tucker said Snow will be out for the remainder of the season, as he was seen with a brace on his right knee and crutches for the second quarter of their game Saturday.

The nature or severity of Henderson’s injury was unclear, as Tucker didn’t give any specific details regarding his injury, but did sound optimistic that he will make a return for the Spartans this year.
Tucker said Henderson, “is sore, so we’ll just have to see how he comes along with his treatment. But he’ll be ready when he’s ready.”
