A scary situation is currently unfolding in East Lansing, with an active shooter on campus at Michigan State. Police have urged people to stay inside and continue to hide as they look to gain more information. Updates have periodically been posted and now, we finally have information on a potential suspect.

Michigan State’s university police released photos of a potential person in question, sharing two of them via Twitter. They gave a description of the suspect as well, from his height to what he was wearing.

“SUSPECT PHOTOS: The suspect is a Black male, shorter in stature, red shoes, jean jacket, wearing a baseball cap that is navy with a lighter brim,” the tweet read from the MSU Police and Public Safety account.

Shortly after the photos were released, police confirmed there have been three confirmed fatalities. Five people have been transported to the hospital as well with “life-threatening” injuries. At the time of Monday night’s posting, the suspect is still on the loose around campus.

Michigan State suspends men’s basketball game scheduled for Wednesday

Michigan State will be canceling all classes, athletics, and all campus-related activities for the next 48 hours. The ban on all MSU-related activities will see the Spartans’ game against Minnesota set for Wednesday either canceled or postponed.

The announcement comes after an active shooter situation on campus that has reportedly left multiple people injured. The university told its students and staff to not come to campus on Tuesday.

Students were alerted about the shooting via a message from the school around 8:30 p.m. ET urging them to stay in place and to run, hide and fight. Shots were reported by MSU police near Berkey Hall and believe that the shooter is on foot.

Police are continuing to respond to the matter. Any updates will be posted to social media.
