Bellevue (Neb.) three-star quarterback Daniel Kaelin has set an official visit to Michigan State, according to 247Sports’ Justin Thind. Kaelin will visit this weekend, December 15.

Kaelin has been committed to Nebraska since May 20, when he flipped his commitment away from Missouri.

On Monday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Cornhuskers coaches informed Kaelin that they were back in contention in the recruitment of five-star quarterback and Nebraska legacy Dylan Raiola. Thamel reported that Nebraska told Kaelin they would honor his commitment.

Nebraska insider Steven Sipple also wrote Monday that he expected the Huskers to keep Kaelin in their class.

“I believe that Nebraska has the potential to get back to winning lots of games and coach Rhule is definitely the right man for the job,” Kaelin told On3 when he committed. “He has a track record of turning around programs, which is why I believe in him to make a big change down in Lincoln.”

Kaelin is the nation’s No. 744 overall prospect and No. 48 quarterback in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

“It means so much to me to know I will be a Husker and playing for the team I have imagined myself playing for since I first started playing football,” Kaelin said. “Staying home also means being closer to family and friends, which will allow me to have a greater support system, which is extremely important for an athlete, and for them to be able to stay close to me and watch all of my games in person.”

Nebraska does currently trend to flip Buford (Ga.) five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola away from Georgia with a 53.1% chance of landing the Huskers legacy.

Raiola has deep ties to Nebraska, who was very much a factor in his recruitment after decommitting from Ohio State in December of last year. Dylan’s father, Dominic, was a second-round pick out of Nebraska in 2001 as an offensive lineman. His uncle, Donovan, is currently Nebraska’s offensive line coach.

“Well, you know his uncle, Donovan Raiola, is the offensive line coach at Nebraska,” Nebraska insider Sean Callahan said about Nebraska working to flip Raiola on Monday. “He was the only coach retained from the Scott Frost coaching staff. The offensive line played well this year and things are really strong, I think, with Matt Rhule and Donovan Raiola. So it looks like his position is solid in Lincoln with this coaching staff.

“But you know, the Raiola family came to a game again this year in Lincoln. They were on the sideline for a home game, and they did that last year as well. You just didn’t think much of it in that he’s committed to Georgia, he moved to Buford, Georgia to be closer to his new school. So nobody could’ve really thought that this would all come out.”
