Texas Tech EDGE transfer Isaac Smith commits to Michigan State

Former Texas Tech EDGE Isaac Smith has committed to Michigan State out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Smith originally entered the portal on April 16.
Smith, a 6 foot 6 junior in 2024, compiled 31 total tackles (15 solo) and 2.5 sacks for the Red Raiders last season. This followed him having to miss the entire 2023 season due to an injury suffered during training camp. He was projected to be one of the Red Raiders’ top edge rushers as a sophomore, but had to be put on hold until this past season.
At the time of his injury, Smith had completed his true freshman season in 2022. Most of his production came during the tail end of his freshman campaign, logging 10 of his total 13 tackles during the final three games of the season.
His first career sack came against Ole Miss in the TaxAct Texas Bowl. During the matchup, he dropped Jaxson Dart — who was a first-round NFL Draft pick last week for the New York Giants — during the 42-25 win.
