Tom Izzo provides multiple Michigan State health updates before Iowa game

Having lost three of its last four games, Michigan State is hoping to get some injury relief in short order. Coach Tom Izzo provided a Michigan State health update prior to the team’s Thursday night showdown with Iowa.
After being limited due to illness recently, leading scorer Tyson Walker appears to be on the mend.
“Tyson I think is about 80, 90%,” Izzo said on Tuesday. “He’s good, just a little weakness from the two, three days when he didn’t eat. But he started eating yesterday, so that was encouraging and hopefully he’ll get back today in practice.”
Another player who has been limited this year is forward Malik Hall. Hall has missed the last three games after aggravating a stress reaction in his foot.
“Malik we’re hoping will practice a little bit today,” Izzo said. “How much? You guess is as good as mine, but at least he’s on the slate to be able to practice a little bit. That would be big.”

Michigan State health updates are key
Suffice it to say having Walker and Hall back and available would be a big deal for the Spartans.
Walker leads the team in scoring at 14.3 points per game, and he also chips in 2.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game. He’s a consistent scorer and a huge backcourt presence.
Hall, on the other hand, has averaged 9.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, but he has only played in nine games so far this season. The Spartans could certainly use him back.
Izzo sounded positive about the team’s outlook on both counts when he provided a Michigan State health update.
“I think we’re in a pretty good spot as far as our health goes,” he said. “I think we’re in a pretty good spot now. We got a day off now in the last 16, that’ll give us a little bit of a break.”
Michigan State and Iowa are slated for a 7 p.m. ET tipoff on FS1 on Thursday.
