WATCH: Michigan State running back scores controversial touchdown
Kenneth Walker III has been Michigan State’s best player thus far. Of course, he put the team on his back and started the scoring for the Spartans today against the Michigan Wolverines.
Down 10-0, Michigan State was looking for a spark to get back into the game. Walker provided it and then some, taking a broken play and finding the end-zone.
Walker III didn’t score without some controversy — he lost control of the football as he crossed the goal line. After a review, the play stood. Still, Michigan fans have a play to possibly look back on as a game-changer — for better or worse.
After galloping for a 27-yard touchdown, Walker now has seven carries for 50 yards and a touchdown on the day. On the other side of the field, Michigan State has stifled Michigan’s run game — but quarterback Cade McNamara has hurt the Spartans through the air.
After a tough first quarter for their offense, the Spartans put the ball in the hands of their best player. Kenneth Walker III rewarded them, and now we have a game in East Lansing.

More on Michigan State vs. Michigan
All eyes are on Saturday’s battle between the Spartans and Wolverines as the winner of Saturday’s game controls their own destiny, while the loser will likely need some help to reach the Big Ten title game. Both teams still have games against Ohio State and Penn State on the calendar.
Michigan State-Michigan is the hottest ticket in town this Saturday, as the Spartans host not just the Wolverines, but also ESPN’s flagship college football show, College GameDay.
Saturday marks the first time College GameDay has traveled to East Lansing since Sept. 12, 2015, when then-No. 5 Michigan State topped No. 7 Oregon, 31-28.
Michigan leads the series 71-37-5 all-time, but Michigan State has won six of the last 10 meetings. The game kicked off at noon ET on Fox.
