4-star TE Andrew Olesh commits to Michigan: ‘It felt right’

Center Valley (Penn.) Southern Lehigh four-star tight end Andrew Olesh first visited Michigan a few months ago for a spring practice. He then returned to Ann Arbor for his official visit from June 21-23.
Olesh grew close with head coach Sherrone Moore and tight ends coach Steve Casula, who made him feel like Michigan’s top target at tight end. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound recruit gradually realized that he wanted to play college football in Ann Arbor and committed to the Wolverines on Monday over Alabama, Florida and Penn State.
“One of the main reasons why I chose Michigan is because of coach Casula – who is a great coach – coach Moore and coach Kirk Campbell, the offensive coordinator,” Olesh told On3. “They’re all great guys I’ve built relationships with. The path to playing time at Michigan caught my attention as well… I like the environment there and being around the players. Going into my OVs, I wanted to be around the players and experience a school’s environment. Talking to all the guys at Michigan got me more into Michigan.”
Olesh feels like ‘family’ at Michigan
Olesh gets an “unmatched” feeling at Michigan because he is already close with multiple coaches and players. The No. 3 player in Pennsylvania is excited to suit up in the Big House, especially after watching film on how the Wolverines use their tight ends. Michigan tight end Colston Loveland’s development and potential selection as a high pick in the 2025 NFL Draft also impressed Olesh.
Despite feeling great about the Wolverines before his official, Penn State had a slight lead for Olesh in late May because he had visited the Nittany Lions numerous times. But after his weekend in Ann Arbor, Moore and Co. took the lead for the talented tight end and never gave it up.
“It felt right,” said Olesh, the No. 67 overall prospect and No. 3 tight end in the 2025 On300. “The deciding factor for me was the OV because I was there for three days and got closer with all the coaches. I got to talk to the players, which was another important thing to me. I spoke with the tight ends, including Colston, Max Bredeson and Marlin Klein. They feel like family, so I knew it was the right place when I was down there.”
Olesh is excited about Michigan’s future under Moore
Olesh called his decision to choose Michigan “pretty hard.” Moore ended up playing a key role in the four-star eventually pledging to the Big Ten program.

“He is one of the very few coaches who would text me every single day,” Olesh said. “He’d call me to check in. He’s not only about football, but he’s also a guy who I can connect with on a family level. He’s almost like a family member to me. We get along. Him calling me and texting me a lot was important. When I was there in the spring, I saw him coach up the players really well. I like the way he does it.”
Moore is taking over a Michigan program coming off a national championship. He served as the Wolverines’ offensive coordinator and offensive line coach during their title run, as well as interim head coach for a few regular season games.
Olesh is optimistic about what Michigan’s new head man will do at the helm. He is also excited to play for Moore once he arrives on campus.
“I think he can carry the torch,” Olesh said. “I think he can keep going because last year, he had to step in and he got the job done. As a coach, he’s going to continue to win games.”
