Heisman candidate Aidan Hutchinson had strong words of support for his teammates and head coach Jim Harbaugh after winning the Big Ten title. Hutchinson expressed how much commitment it took from his teammates to invest in the program, and how he felt Harbaugh was the best coach in the world.

Hutchinson being interviewed by Joel Klatt after Hutch 4 Heisman chants rained down from his teammates and crowd: “Hey to win the Big Ten championship here with the best teammates ever and the best coach in the world, man,” Hutchinson told Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt after hearing his teammates and the crowd chant “Hutch for Heisman.”

“I’m so proud of everybody. I’m speechless. There’s no words that can describe this.”

Klatt went on to ask Hutchinson how he felt about his fellow seniors who returned to the program for one more year after the shortened 2020 season.

“Yeah, last year [we] went 2-4. Everybody had to invest in this culture, in this team and as you see today, we did — every single player invested in our culture and what we did. And I’m so proud of everybody. This wouldn’t be possible without all 130, 140 of the players on this football team.”

Shortly after Michigan ended the season with their dominant win over Iowa in the Big Ten Championship game, Michigan was revealed as the No. 2 ranked team in the College Football Playoff.

Adding to their accolades, Hutchinson was named a Heisman finalist as well — the only defensive player among the finalists. While his chances of winning the Heisman itself are up in the air, there’s no question about Hutchinson’s bright future.

Over the coming few months, Hutchinson and Michigan will be competing in the College Football Playoff with a shot at a national title. After that, most NFL mock drafts list Hutchinson as the No. 1 overall draft pick for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Michigan and Hutchinson have been riding high since before the Big Ten Championship game however, defeating rival Ohio State to earn their shot at the title. It was the school’s first win over the Buckeyes since 2011, and the first time ever that Jim Harbaugh or Aidan Hutchinson defeated them.

Now Michigan turns their sight to Georgia in their semifinal game of the playoff. Georgia looked to be one of the historically great defenses of college football before finally losing their first game to Alabama in the SEC Championship. If Michigan can pull off the win, they’ll be playing for a national championship for the first time since 1997.
