Aidan Hutchinson is aware of the challenge that Georgia presents. At the Heisman Trophy media availability on Friday, the Michigan defensive end revealed what he learned in his film study of the Bulldogs this week.

“I saw their game against Bama,” he said. “I’m fired up and ready to go. I think they’ve got a really elite unit all across the board. Hopefully we can take advantage of some of the mismatches and get pressure on their quarterback.”

The Wolverines are set to face Georgia on New Year’s Eve in the Orange Bowl with a trip to the national title game on the line. They are in search of their first national championship since 1997.

It was been quite the season for Hutchinson, who finds himself as one of four finalists to take home the Heisman Trophy. Should he win, he would be only the second defensive player to do so. The other, cornerback Charles Woodson, also went to Michigan.

To claim the trophy, the defensive end will have to beat out three quarterbacks in Bryce Young, CJ Stroud and Kenny Pickett. The winner is set to be announced at 8 p.m. ET Saturday on ESPN.

Hutchinson ranks third in FBS with 14 sacks on the season. His Heisman stock shot up following a three-sack performance in a victory against Ohio State. He’ll hope for a similar outcome against Georgia.

The Bulldogs entered last week’s SEC Championship against Alabama undefeated and No. 1 in the country. However, the Crimson Tide dominated from the start on their way to a 41-24 victory.

In that game, the defense applied heavy pressure to quarterback Stetson Bennett. In addition to three sacks, Alabama recorded five quarterback hurries and forced a pair of interceptions. That included a pick six early in the fourth quarter that put the Tide up three touchdowns.

With Alabama laying out the blueprint to beat Georgia, Aidan Hutchinson and the Wolverines are taking notes. They will look to emulate the Tide’s strategy and hope to generate enough offense to come away with the win.

Kickoff for the Orange Bowl is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on New Year’s Eve.
