Aidan Hutchinson has had a monster 2021 season with the Michigan Wolverines. And because of his play, Hutchinson has found himself as one of the top four candidates to win the Heisman Trophy this season. During the Heisman Trophy talks in New York, the Wolverines’ defensive end opened up about what special moments he shared with the team and head coach Jim Harbaugh.

“I mean this year is filled with special moments. All the way back to the Nebraska game, the Wisconsin game. I mean it’s always it’s always fun when you’re winning you know in any program. It’s always easy to be light hearted. You know something, it’s been a little bit tense at Michigan in the previous year it’s just because, especially last year being two and four. Based on a lot of those pressures and expectations to get back to where you know we used to be. And now that we’re back I mean everyone is relaxed a little bit. We took down the monster Ohio State, won the Big Ten championship and now we’re looking forward to bigger and things,” said Hutchinson.

Aidan Hutchinson’s takeaways from Georgia film

Aidan Hutchinson is aware of the challenge that Georgia presents. At the Heisman Trophy media availability on Friday, the Michigan defensive end revealed what he learned in his film study of the Bulldogs this week.

“I saw their game against Bama,” he said. “I’m fired up and ready to go. I think they’ve got a really elite unit all across the board. Hopefully we can take advantage of some of the mismatches and get pressure on their quarterback.”

The Wolverines are set to face Georgia on New Year’s Eve in the Orange Bowl with a trip to the national title game on the line. They are in search of their first national championship since 1997.

Hutchinson ranks third in FBS with 14 sacks on the season. His Heisman stock shot up following a three-sack performance in a victory against Ohio State. He’ll hope for a similar outcome against Georgia.

It was been quite the season for Hutchinson, who finds himself as one of four finalists to take home the Heisman Trophy. Should he win, he would be only the second defensive player to do so. The other, cornerback Charles Woodson, also went to Michigan.
