4-star OT Andrew Sprague commits to Michigan Wolverines
Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst four-star offensive tackle Andrew Sprague had offers from coast to coast.
LSU, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Stanford and USC were among those coveting him the most. But one program continued to come in his mind as he thought about where he wanted to play at the next level: the Wolverines.
On Friday, Sprague made it official with Jim Harbaugh and Co., announcing for the Maize and Blue.
“Coach Harbaugh and Coach Moore are the best coaches in the country,” he told On3, “and winning back-to-back Joe Moore Awards is something I want to be a part of.”
The Wolverines’ recent success of winning those awards, as well as back-to-back Big Ten titles and College Football Playoff appearances, made them a major contender. But the addition of the school’s top-notch education ultimately sealed the deal.
“I chose Michigan both because of what it can do you for you on the field and off of it,” Sprague said.
Sprague is a another major addition for Michigan’s 2024 class
Michigan’s momentum on the recruiting trail is sky high right now, with Sprague becoming the third top-150 recruit in as many weeks to join up with the Wolverines. Four-star Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller running back Jordan Marshall started the ball rolling, and elite Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day quarterback Jadyn Davis kept things going by committing last week.

Sprague’s commitment gives the Wolverines 11 early pledges this cycle, tied with Georgia for the second-most of any program in the country. Michigan currently sits at No. 5 nationally and No. 2 in the Big Ten in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, just a few months after closing with a disappointing No. 18 finish in the 2023 cycle.
The 6-foot-8, 270-pounder is the No. 135 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 9 offensive tackle and the No. 4 recruit in the state of Missouri.
He’s now the third prospect from the Show Me State to commit to the Wolverines in the past two years, joining Kansas City (Mo.) Park Hill athlete Kendrick Bell and St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter wideout Fredrick Moore.
Andrew Sprague is also Michigan’s fourth offensive line commit already in this class, joining three-star tackle Ben Roebuck and interior linemen Luke Hamilton and Manuel Beigel. The Wolverines are also trending heavily for four-star offensive tackle Blake Frazier, a Michigan legacy and the son of former offensive lineman Steve Frazier.
