Arkansas DB transfers Tevis and TJ Metcalf commit to Michigan
Arkansas transfer defensive backs and brothers Tevis and TJ Metcalf have committed to Michigan, they tell On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
The Wolverines hosted the brothers in Ann Arbor over the weekend.
The cousins of Seattle Seahawks WR DK Metcalf both have more than one year of eligibility remaining to play for the Wolverines. TJ finished his sophomore season with the Razorbacks in 2024 while Tevis has three years of eligibility remaining.
TJ was the more productive of the brothers in 2024. He totaled 7 tackles, including 1 for loss, 7 pass breakups and 3 interceptions as a sophomore, appearing in 12 games across 11 starts. He also played in 12 games for Arkansas as a frehsman in 2023, logging 15 tackles along the way.
His brother, Tevis, played sparingly as a true freshman this season. He was active in all 12 games for Arkansas but only logged 15 snaps on defense. He was used mainly on special teams in 2024.
Both TJ and Tevis were three-star recruits in their respective recruiting classes. However. they attended different high schools, with TJ going to Birmingham (Ala.) Pinson Valley and Tevis playing for Clay (Ala.) Chalkville.

Michigan finished the 2024 regular season 7-5 overall, wrapping up their slate with a 13-10 upset win over Ohio State. They’re set to take on Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 31.
The portal officially opened on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers.
That means roughly 25 percent of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year, per On3’s Pete Nakos.
