Biff Poggi set to spend weekend with Michigan Wolverines, Sherrone Moore following Charlotte firing

After being fired by Charlotte earlier this week, Biff Poggi is set to spend the weekend with the Michigan Wolverines and Sherrone Moore.
Poggi has ties to the program, as he spent 2021 and 2022 as the team’s associate head coach. While it didn’t work out with the 49ers, the former Wolverines coach evidently will always have a home in Michigan, where he’ll get to take his mind off his firing for a bit.
“Love my players at CLT (green check emoji). Love my coaches and staff at CLT (green check emoji). Love the students at CLT (green check emoji),” Poggi posted on X. “I will be spending Friday and Saturday with my old friend (Sherrone Moore) #GoBlue.”
Moreover, Poggi was a key piece behind Michigan’s College Football Playoff bids in 2021 and 2022. He helped Jim Harbaugh win back-to-back Big Ten championships, and he was also on Michigan’s 2016 staff.

As for his time at Charlotte, Poggi’s time came to an end when any chance at bowl eligibility was shut down this past weekend due to a 59-24 loss to South Florida. Charlotte closes the season with Florida Atlantic and UAB, which are a combined 4-16. Charlotte was Poggi’s first head coaching job in college football.
Time will tell what’s next for Biff Poggi, but he’s going to clear his mind and return to Ann Arbor this weekend, where the Wolverines will welcome the Northwestern Wildcats to town in Week 13.
