We got a hilarious moment on Sunday in the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game, when Wolverines star Tre Donaldson spit out his gum on the floor in the middle of the game. And having no shame, he decided to pick his gum off the floor and put it back in his mouth.

Donaldson and the Michigan Wolverines came out on top in the 2025 Big Ten Tournament Championship, prevailing 59-53 to win their first Big Ten tourney crown since 2018.

Tre Donaldson also stuffed the stat sheet

In the win, Michigan’s Vladislav Goldin and Tre Donaldson combined for 22 points. Donaldson was a one-man distribution center too, racking up eight assists against the Badgers.

Donaldson was also the hero in their semifinal matchup against Maryland, taking the rock coast-to-coast for a game-winning layup in the final seconds. With just five seconds remaining, the Wolverines inbounded the ball from the other end of the floor, and Donaldson raced down to put the basket in at the last second.

Despite Michigan’s pair of standout performances on Sunday from Goldin and Donaldson, it was a slow day on offense for both teams. Michigan shot just 32% from the field while Wisconsin connected on 22% of its attempts. Neither team found any more luck from deep, with both teams failing to shoot above 30% from 3-point range.

Wisconsin made up for its weak shooting performance by dominating the glass. The Badgers tallied 15 offensive rebounds compared to Michigan’s mere six. Wisconsin’s extra effort translated to offense. The Badgers scored twice was many second-chance points as Michigan.

Alas, Michigan more than tripled Wisconsin’s bench points and applied relentless pressure on the Badgers’ offense all afternoon. Michigan finished the game on a 6-0 run to secure the victory.

It’s a particularly impressive feat for the Wolverines, who are in their first season under head coach Dusty May. Many fans across the Big Ten counted Michigan out in the postseason after the Wolverines lost their final three games of the regular season.

It’ll be exciting to see what Donaldson, Goldin, and the rest of the Michigan squad can do in the NCAA Tournament.
