Blake Corum returns to game after suffering knee injury against Illinois
Near the end of the first half in Michigan’s game against Illinois, star running back and Heisman contender Blake Corum suffered what looked like a pretty serious knee injury. He took a third-and-six run towards the sideline and right near the sticks, before being tackled out of bounds by an Illini defender.
As he went down, Corum fumbled the ball in play and then laid on the ground writhing in pain and grabbing his knee for a few minutes afterward. Corum did get up and walked off on his own accord, heading immediately to the locker room just before the end of the second quarter.
However, ahead of the start of the second half, Corum jogged back onto the field with the team in full uniform. Right before the second half kick, ABC’s Molly McGrath reported that Corum was cleared to return after getting looked at during halftime. And on the Wolverines’ first second half possession, Corum came right back in and was handed the ball.
A huge sigh of relief for UM fans.
