Blake Corum didn’t mess around when he talked about what he expects at Michigan this coming season. It’s a national championship or bust.

Two straight Big Ten titles and two straight College Football Playoff semifinal losses, it’s time to put up or shut up. That’s how Corum explained it.

Well, to be more specific, he said “enough dreaming,” about the end result.

“I hold my teammates, myself and the coaches hold us to a high standard right,” Corum said at Big Ten Media Days. “And part of me coming back was, I said unfinished business. You know that was my thing, unfinished business on the field, off the field, you know, in general. But we have a team that is very special right now. A lot of guys came back.

“You know, JJ has another year under his belt … Team wise, we’re great. We’ve been working our butts off this year. I mean, this summer, and I believe the camaraderie and the growth, brotherly love that we have within each other right now is crazy.”

With camp on the horizon, Corum turned to “coach speak.” It’s not about December or January at this point.

It’s all about the day in front you.

“And you know, what I’m telling the guys now and what the coaches are telling us, you know, this is day to day now,” Corum said. “We’ve had enough dreaming, we’ve had enough talk about the national championship and now it’s day to day. We got to beat ECU first. I’m saying we can’t think too far ahead … we have to take care of the regular schedule and beat our rivals. And then, you know, we get there.”

Corum also talked about Michigan getting over the hump. That hump is within the College Football Playoff.

The semifinals are nice, but Michigan missed out on competing with Georgia and beating TCU over the last two years.

“We just gotta get over the hump,” Corum said. “But, I have high standards. So yeah, it’s win or bust. And I think the guys know that but we don’t have to say anything. We know what it is. Talk is cheap. And right now we’re just focused on camp and then we’re gonna go from there. We will attack each and every day and try to get better. And that’s what we’re doing.”
