Blake Corum on Heisman hype: It’s cool but team comes first
Michigan running back Blake Corum was largely overlooked during the offseason because of the quarterback competition between Cade McNamara and JJ McCarthy. Still, as the Wolverines opened up strong against a weak schedule Corum has reminded everyone that he is a key piece of the offense. Now, according to some, he’s even a Heisman Trophy contender.
While speaking to the media, Blake Corum was asked about how he felt seeing his name come up on lists for the Heisman Trophy.
“I think it was the first couple of games last year it was there or something,” Blake Corum said. “I don’t pay attention to it.”

“At the end of the day, if you don’t win the Heisman at the end of the year, it don’t matter anyway. You know, obviously, it’s cool to go to New York or wherever it may be, but I’m focused on the team, man. I’m trying to go back to the College Football Playoff and win it all this year.”

Blake Corum emphasized that the Heisman Trophy would be cool. However, for him, winning and team success are going to be more important and come first.
“With team success, individual success happens. So, it is cool. I’ll say it’s cool. But, if I’m still on there at the end of the year, I might have another answer. As of right now, I’m just trying to beat Indiana.”
On the year, Blake Corum has 611 yards on the ground and 10 rushing touchdowns. He was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2020.
