Blake Corum is back in the College Football Playoff, and looking to win a national title with the Michigan Wolverines.

While the star running back had his hands all over Michigan’s success in 2022, an injury forced him to miss the end of the season, and the Wolverine’s College Football Playoff game against TCU. However, Corum has returned with a vengeance this season.

24 touchdowns later, the Michigan star wouldn’t trade his journey for the world, even if he’s had his fair share of ups and downs.

“It was a beautiful journey, a journey that taught me a lot of things about myself. I remember on December 2nd last year I was going into surgery. It was probably around this time, California time. Just how the whole 365 can change, you know what I’m saying? It was a beautiful journey,” Corum explained. “I went through some trials and tribulations. I found myself again and became a better man on and off the field, but to be back out here with my guys, you know, it felt great. It felt great.

“It’s been a heck of a journey, but the journey is not over. I’m super excited to see what this next month has to offer, this next game has to offer because I know it’s going to be glorious. I know it’s going to be great. To summarize everything from what I’ve been through, last year to now, has been beautiful. I wouldn’t trade nothing in the world for it.”

Blake Corum has become a hero in Ann Arbor, and the face of perseverance. Finishing his time at Michigan with a national title would be the storybook ending his time with the Wolverines deserves.

Michigan entered the dance the last two seasons and faltered, even when they were expected to win in 2022. However, Corum believes the Wolverines have taken the steps this season to ensure a different result in 2023.

“I think, from the beginning of the year, even the offseason, we just took a different mindset,” Corum stated. “We knew we’ve been to the College Football Playoff twice, but couldn’t finish. It came down to execution. It came down to taking care of the small things. When you play a big game like this, you must execute at the highest level. You must take care of those small things. You must protect the ball. Protect the quarterback. Make the right tackles. Be in the right fits.

“So I believe this team, with the leaders that we have, we’ll be ready with our preparation. I know the coaches will have us ready, and I know we’re ready to take that next step. This is our third time being here. So you would think we would’ve learned our lesson, and learned from our mistakes, and be ready to advance.”

As the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff, Michigan has accomplished their goal throughout the regular season. Will it be enough to capture a national title? We’ll have to wait and see what happens over the next month and change.
