Blake Corum wanted to get back to the College Football Playoff with Michigan. While it was accomplished, the Wolverines star running back won’t play due to a season-ending injury.

But that did not mean Corum wasn’t going to show up. While sporting the crutches, Corum made his way to the field during the pregame warmups and greeted a handful of Michigan fans ahead of the semifinal kickoff against TCU. The former Heisman contender signed autographs for the Maize and Blue faithful.

While Donovan Edwards leads the way in the backfield now as Michigan tries to win a national title, Corum’s future is up in the air. Prior to his injury, it was expected Corum would head to the NFL.

At his previous rate, Corum was in the running for the Heisman Trophy based on his production. However, Corum said he was torn between declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft or returning to Michigan for one more season.

“I’m 50-50,” Corum said on the Adam Schefter Podcast. “I have not made a decision. It’s a hard decision and like I said, I got to think about what’s best for Blake Corum … “A lot has been happening recently with the injury. I’ve thought about it a little bit but right now, I’m just trying to figure some things out, get my knee right.”

In 12 games played this season, Corum rushed for 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns. While he did attempt to play against Ohio State, it was obvious the knee injury was going to prevent Corum from being his normal self.

Despite Corum not playing, Michigan legend Desmond Howard said the Wolverines had no dropoff in their offense due to Edwards.

“Well, I’ll tell you what, the thing about Michigan’s offense when you really study them, they are just so balanced right now,” Howard said on Get Up earlier this week. “Of course when Blake was in there, he kept the offense on schedule, but it was a two-back situation with Donovan Edwards.

“And then when Blake went down, obviously didn’t play in the Ohio State game, and Donovan Edwards became the feature back then Donovan Edwards showed you what he’s been showing you all year long. They had an incredible one-two punch, but there was not a drop off when Blake Corum went out of the game.”

No. 2 Michigan (13-0) takes on No. 3 TCU (12-1) in the College Football Playoff semifinals at the Fiesta Bowl Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET.
