Last year, Blake Corum looked primed to be a Heisman Trophy finalist as he put together an impressive 2022 season. But a season-ending injury knocked him out of the race, and questions swirled about whether he’d return to the Wolverines or try for the NFL.

He chose the former, and he’s back on the sidelines Saturday for Michigan’s spring game. He seemed upbeat during his in-game interview, too.

“It feels good, just being out there again in the Big House,” Corum told Big Ten Network’s Brooke Fletcher. “One more year there with my guys. It feels great.”

Michigan fans held their breath as Corum went down with a knee injury against Illinois, later revealed to be a torn meniscus and sprained MCL. Since then, he’s been working his way back, and he’s starting to work out a bit.

Although he’s not playing in the spring game — understandably so — he made it clear he’s feeling great.

“Feeling stronger than ever,” Corum said. “Now, it’s just day by day. I’m not trying to rush it. Sometimes, I can get ahead of myself. But just day by day, making sure my knee’s right and just coming back for the comeback.”

Blake Corum on why he returned to Michigan: ‘There’s just more left that I want to do’

Corum could’ve tried for the 2023 NFL Draft and been an intriguing prospect despite his injury, rushing for 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns in 12 games. But he opted to run it back for one last go-round with Michigan because, quite simply, he’s not done yet.

It doesn’t just involve on-field goals, though. He still wants to give back to the Ann Arbor community.

“There’s just more left that I want to do … not only on the field, but in the community, as well,” Corum said. “We have more that’s on the plate and I’m just trying to finish it off.”

Corum listed three goals — three big goals, at that — he wants to accomplish this year. The most notable one is The Game against Ohio State, which he missed last year with the injury. His confidence is high, too.

“Winning the national championship, winning the Big Ten again, beating Ohio State again,. Just everything, coming for everything,” Corum said. “I left some things out there, so I’m excited to be back. That’s why I came back. I love Michigan, I love my team and I think we can get the job done.”
