Sherrone Moore is 4-0 as Michigan‘s acting head coach this season as Jim Harbaugh dealt with two separate suspensions throughout the 2023 season. One of those wins — a 30-24 win over Ohio State in The Game — is surely big enough to earn him a head coaching job anywhere in college football, right?

On3’s Andy Staples and The Wolverine’s Clayton Sayfie came together in Ann Arbor to discuss how Moore should go about handling the calls he is bound to get this offseason — and if he should ultimately take any of their offers.

“Jim Harbaugh is back this week, he’s going to be coaching the team on the field during the Big Ten Championship game and then beyond as they go into post the rest of postseason,” Staples said on Monday. “But for Sherrone Moore — obviously, what people saw on Saturday and then in the previous weeks, he’s ready to be the head coach of a big-time college football program right now.

“I don’t know that there’s even a job out there that would be worth looking at when you’re potentially in line to get Michigan.”

Sayfie, who has covered Moore’s elevation to interim head coach extensively this season at The Wolverine, believes the attention the Michigan OC is well warranted for the success he has helped lead the program to in the face of adversity.

At the same time, Moore will undoubtedly be contacted for jobs this season — but is he a fool to take them? Or would those same programs be remiss not to pick up the phone at least and try to take him away from Ann Arbor?

“His name has been thrown out for Indiana by some national guys or whatever, and I think that’s fair,” Sayfie told Staples. “Like, if you’re Indiana — you give [Moore] a call. If you’re anyone with an opening at a Power Five right now … but if you’re an Indiana you give him a call, and I agree with you.

“I mean, he loves it [at Michigan]. He came here in 2017 and has just risen and risen to this point where he was the head coach for Michigan-Ohio State. I think he understands probably what’s in the future, or at least wants to wait out a couple of more years.”

For now, Moore will transition back into his role as offensive coordinator for this weekend’s Big Ten Championship game against Iowa. Kickoff between the Wolverines and Hawkeyes is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET live on FOX.
