Jim Harbaugh will not be coaching Michigan against Penn State on Saturday due to the Big Ten suspending the Wolverines head coach for three games amid their sign-stealing debacle.

However, what happens if Harbaugh shows up on on the Wolverines’ sidelines? Bruce Feldman provided an answer to whether or not we’ll see a triumphant entrance from the most talked about man in college football on Saturday.

“Based on the statement that Michigan gave, I would be very surprised if that were to happen,” Feldman said on Big Noon Kickoff. “But if it did, we did talk to Penn State AD Pat Craft, who said ‘Look, we’re not going to stop him if he if he decided to come on the field.’ But I would be very surprised — although this has been a very surprising story.

“To be honest, the Michigan legal team was very surprised from this morning that the [temporary restraining order] was not granted to get Harbaugh here today.”

In Harbaugh’s place, offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore will serve as the team’s acting head coach.

Of course, if a decision was made before — or even during kickoff — a plan was in place to get Harbaugh to Beaver Stadium if he were to have the appeal granted, and Moore said everyone would be ready. There will be no hot tag for Jim Harbaugh in Happy Valley on Saturday.

That plan won’t be carried out anymore as everyone looks toward next week’s hearing for the next steps in this seemingly never-ending saga.

“Next Friday at 9 a.m. (CT), there will be hearing with everyone scheduled to appear in person who was involved in all of this,” Feldman continued. “That would be a preliminary injunction whether Jim Harbaugh is then going to be allowed to coach his team. Again, obviously, they play Maryland next week, and then the huge game in Ann Arbor would be against the hated Buckeyes in this rivalry.

“He can still coach his team during the week, but until Friday with this hearing is when we’re going to find out a lot more about what’s the next step isn’t the Jim Harbaugh and Michigan saga with the Big Ten.”

Kickoff between the Wolverines and Nittany Lions is set for Noon ET live on Fox. Michigan remains a 4.5-point betting favorite on the road despite missing their head coach. The over/under line is set at 44.5 total points, according to Vegas Insider.
