Bruce Feldman speculates on future for Jim Harbaugh, Michigan
As the Michigan football sign-stealing scandal continues to unfold, the question of what will come next for Jim Harbaugh looms perhaps largest of all. And college football insider Bruce Feldman shared that he suspects Harbaugh will finally leave his alma mater and make a return to the NFL.
It’s been no secret that Harbaugh has been interested in chasing an elusive Super Bowl victory and time might be running out on his window to get an NFL gig — he turns 60 in December. With NCAA sanctions likely coming down in some form, it could be all the push Harbaugh needs to make the jump for real.
“My sense, and I’ve talked about this on this show with Rich, is that Jim Harbaugh, who’s obviously danced with the NFL a couple times the last two years and he has a really good record as an NFL head coach in the past, will bounce after this season,” Feldman said on “The Rich Eisen Show.”
Feldman also shared that the uncertainty — both around the previous ongoing NCAA investigation and the one that is now unfolding — surrounding Michigan makes lodging any sort of firm prediction a difficult task.

“And the stuff that he’s already in the middle of the NCAA hot water with in terms of Covid violations during the Covid dead period from a few years ago, that they won’t be able to do anything to him and they may be able to add sanctions to his alma mater, Michigan. But what happens with this? Can they get out in front of him or if Michigan wins a national title, is that something that could be taken away? I don’t think anybody has any answers to this right now,” Feldman said.
Feldman also discussed the angst surrounding Michigan
Michigan is currently 8-0 and ranked No. 2 in the country heading into its bye this weekend.
However, that doesn’t mean that everything is going well in Ann Arbor with the NCAA currently investigating the Wolverines for sign stealing, and there is plenty of uncertainty about what potential penalties could be handed down to Michigan.
“I think there’s a lot of angst right now inside Michigan, because you have this team that is a great team, with all these veteran leaders that have come back. They have dominated everybody they have played,” Feldman said. “And yet, this is now going to hang over the rest of the season, because there’s a lot of, what seems to be damning evidence, that is mounting about signal stealing, that goes into the category of advance scouting.”
