Connor Stalions makes 2025 national championship pick, predicts The Game played twice
Connor Stalions has been off of the sidelines for a year and a half now. However, he’s still in on college football with thoughts of who could win the next national title in the 2025 College Football Playoff.
In an interview with On3’s J.D. PicKell, Stalions gave some predictions about next year’s postseason. That started with his natural pick of the Michigan Wolverines, led by QB Bryce Underwood, to win the CFP.
“Obviously, I’ve got to go with my boy, Bryce, at Michigan,” Stalions said.
As to who the maize & blue would play, Stalions named your usual contenders the last few seasons in programs like Oregon, Texas, and Georgia. That said, Ohio State could have been in that conversation but they, like his own title pick, lost a lot from their last roster.
“Who’s going to lose to Michigan in the natty, if that’s your question?” Stalions clarified. “Uh, I do like Oregon. Dan Lanning is very elite. Um, Texas is – Sark is good. Um, you know, I mean, I hate to just be like, Oregon, Texas, or Georgia.
“Again, like, as much as I don’t like Ohio State, this is not like a anti-Ohio State problem. They are losing a lot, though. They’re losing a lot and there’s uncertainty at quarterback.”

For a different prediction though, Stalions did suggest that the sport could see at least a second edition of The Game between Michigan and Ohio State. That’d come either the following week in the Big Ten Championship or in some round of the College Football Playoff.
“Michigan-Ohio State? It’s going to be interesting,” Stalions said. “I will make a prediction that this will be the first year where they play each other more than once. Because, obviously, they play week twelve. Unless Oregon – it’s going to be Michigan, Oregon, and Ohio State. You have Penn State. They’re a dark horse and I know they’ve been playing well the last few years. But, like, longevity? You’d imagine Michigan, Ohio State, and Oregon. There’s going to be a year. I’m just banking this is going to be the year that Michigan and Ohio State play back-to-back weeks. And, if not, they’ll meet in the playoffs.”
“It’s going to be interesting. Could you imagine…Could you imagine Michigan-Ohio State in a semifinal or, god forbid, a national championship game?
Several of those teams mentioned hope to be in a position to win conference and national titles this fall. For Stalions, though, he’s sticking with Michigan to win its 11th title and second in the last three seasons.
