Connor Stalions reacts to Michigan winning national title in return to social media
Before lifting the College Football Playoff trophy, Jim Harbaugh talked about how there are a ton of Michigan Men who are now national champions. He was mainly talking about the players but the coaches certainly share the honor too. Yes, even Connor Stalions, who was part of Harbaugh’s staff earlier this season and over the past few years.
Stalions was not on the sideline or anywhere close to being associated with the program over the stretch run. He was fired on Nov. 3, just a day before Michigan faced Purdue in Ann Arbor. Since then, we have not heard much from Stalions — not about the sign-stealing scandal or about how Michigan was playing on the field.
The silence was broken on Monday night, just moments after the game clock struck zero. Stalions still did not have any words but instead took to X and posted a simple gif. A man striking his first in a sign of victory, signifying the national championship his beloved Michigan had just won.
Associated with the program or not, you just know Stalions enjoyed watching Michigan take down Washington.
You can check out the reaction from Stalions here.
The last time we heard from Stalions, he was releasing a statement amid his firing. He said being on staff would be a distraction for a program working toward winning a national championship game. Stalions did say he would be cheering Michigan on from afar and his gif proves that sentence to be true.

“I love the University of Michigan and its football program,” Stalions said in a statement provided to The Athletic back in November. “And I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to work with the incredible student athletes, Coach Harbaugh and the other coaches that have been a part of the Michigan football family during my tenure. I do not want to be a distraction from what I hope to be a championship run for the team, and I will continue to cheer them on.”
Stalions’ name is likely to come up more this offseason if/when the NCAA brings the sign-stealing scandal back into light. It will have to be addressed at some point, especially since Michigan just won the national championship.
Michigan does not care one iota about the sign-stealing scandal at the moment, though. Fans, like Stalions, are going to be celebrating this win for a long, long time.
