Michigan defensive lineman Mazi Smith is reportedly facing a felony weapon stemming from an October incident, per David Jesse of the Detroit Free Press.
“Michigan football star defensive lineman Mazi Smith is facing a felony weapons charge stemming from an Oct. 7, 2022 incident, Washtenaw County court records show,” wrote Jesse. “The charges were filed on Wednesday, records show, and stem from some incident in Ann Arbor.
“Details of the incident or why it took nearly two months to file charges were not immediately available.”
Moreover, Smith played in Michigan’s victory over Ohio State last weekend, but now it remains to be seen what happens regarding the potential charge.
According to Jesse, Michigan has not returned their request for comment yet, and more details will be provided when they become available.
