Barstool Sports founder and owner Dave Portnoy announced a collab with Michigan QB commit Bryce Underwood for Black Friday. He was scarce on the details, but the most popular Wolverines recruit is about to get more popular.
“Black Friday, we have a Bryce Underwood-Barstool collab coming out in the store with him, proceeds going to Bryce Underwood. so be on the lookout for that,” Portnoy said on the Barstool College Football Show.
Underwood, the top QB prospect in the Class of 2025, flipped from LSU to Michigan and it was more than just the Barstool influence.
Portnoy, a Michigan alum and fanatic, made prior promises to get in on the Michigan NIL space to help land a top quarterback and/or other prospects.
Well, he helped land the biggest fish in the sea. Not only that, future Hall of Famer and Michigan legend Tom Brady reportedly helped the Wolverines land Underwood.
And it was all the culmination of a months-long push by the Wolverines to flip the local five-star from LSU, where he’d been committed since January. And on top of a lucrative reported NIL package — north of $10 million — the Wolverines leaned on a favored son.
Brady and Underwood first spoke over FaceTime weeks ago and a relationship blossomed from there, with Brady offering to be an ongoing resource for the young quarterback.

Brady played at Michigan in the late 1990s and famously climbed up the depth chart to become the starter and led the Wolverines to an Orange Bowl victory to cap the 1999 season. He’d go on to win seven Super Bowls during his NFL career.
Underwood’s commitment to Michigan also came as a surprise to many, as he was seemingly leaning toward sticking with LSU. He even posted on social media a week prior to flipping his commitment that he was likely to turn down the hefty NIL offer from the Wolverines.
But a week later, that had all changed.
And evidently, while it was likely not the sole deciding factor, having Brady play his part in recruiting the five-star quarterback from the Wolverines’ backyard helped make the biggest recruiting win for Michigan in modern history possible.
As a member of the Class of 2025, Underwood is a five-star recruit out of Belleville (Mich.) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 1 quarterback in the class, the No. 1 prospect in Michigan and the No. 1 overall prospect in the class.
