Michigan defeated No. 2 Ohio State 13-10 on Saturday, downing the Buckeyes for the fourth-straight year.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who is a noted Michigan fan and booster, trolled the Buckeyes on social media after the game. The influential media figure was excited, nearly uninteligble and most importantly for him — victorious.

The Wolverines were 20-point underdogs heading into the matchup — but still emerged victorious thanks to the eventual game-winning field goal kick by Dominic Zvada from 21-yards out. It was the only score of the second half, as both teams took a 10-10 tie into halftime.

Michigan’s offense finished the game with 234 yards — 62 passing, 172 rushing — to help beat the Buckeyes in Columbus. While Ohio State out-gained Michigan yard-wise, the Wolverines out-possessed the Buckeyes 34-26 thanks to their heavy dose of running.

It’s a big-time win for Portnoy’s Wolverines, who have receiving on the receiving end of more than a bit of good news this month. Portnoy is believed to have played some sort of a role in helping Michigan flip top quarterback Bryce Underwood from LSU.

Portnoy has been vocal about helping Michigan find a top-level quarterback from an NIL perspective. Back in late September, he claimed “I’ll go sign them. $1 million. $2 million. Whatever it is…$3 million.” Shortly after, talks with Moore were confirmed by Portnoy himself.

Underwood played high school football at Belleville (MI) High School, where he was a Five-Star Plus+ prospect. He was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

That’s the future in Ann Arbor. For now, the Wolverines have more than helped their cause in trying to earn its way into a better bowl game. They will learn their fate over the next couple of weeks, and will look to finish their season on a high note under first-year Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore.
