Michigan starting quarterback Davis Warren was injured early during the third quarter of Tuesday’s ReliaQuest Bowl against Alabama.

Warren was sacked on third down and appeared to injury his knee on the play. He tried to walk off, before collapsing to the ground and eventually being helped off the field and into the injury tent.

ESPN sideline reporter Sherree Burruss provided an update on Davis Warren during the broadcast.

“He’s currently back in the locker room. We saw Davis go down, immediately grabbing that knee. Here you see him walking into the locker room. I’m told he is still being evaluated,” Burruss said. “He was favoring that right leg. He was in the blue medical tent, only three minutes or so with the trainers. Came out, jogged a little bit. Looked a little uncertain.

“Went to the bench. Teammates were hugging him. I heard him tell the guys, ‘Go finish.’ But he is in the locker room still being evaluated.”

Davis Warren was 9-for-12 passing for 73 yards and a touchdown prior to the injury. He helped the Wolverines build a 16-0 first-quarter lead.

Davis Warren is a senior quarterback for the Wolverines. He entered the ReliaQuest Bowl vs. Alabama with 1,126 passing yards and six touchdowns, with nine interceptions, on the season. Warren was replaced by Alex Orji.

Davis Warren describes initial impressions of Bryce Underwood

Michigan‘s Bryce Underwood isn’t wasting any time getting acquainted with his fellow Wolverines. The 2025 five-star+ signee — the consensus No. 1 overall recruit nationally — began practicing with the team on Dec. 19 and took the trip to Tampa, Fla., for the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Evidently, it hasn’t taken long for Underwood to stand out to his teammates. On Saturday, Michigan QB Davis Warren revealed his initial impressions of Underwood.

“He’s been great,” Warren said. “He wants to learn, wants to get better. Obviously, the college game is different and you got to adjust, and there’s a lot of things you got to do differently. I learned that coming in, me and JJ [McCarthy] working through a lot of those things together.

“I know Bryce is going to have to do the same but he’s coming with the right mindset and the right mentality. Just really is excited to be in here every day and has a passion about getting better at football. So, that’s the biggest thing I’ve seen out of him and I know he’s gonna keep doing that. He has great initiative.”
