Dax Hill showcases biggest strength, what he brings to the NFL
The newest member of the Cincinnati Bengals secondary used one word to define what he brings to the table on day one: “versatility.” Michigan safety Daxton Hill was drafted with the penultimate pick of the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft by Cincy, and he’s ready to fit right in wherever the Bengals need him on defense.
“I don’t wanna be selfish,” said Hill during his entrance interview following the draft. He’s willing to play any position in the defensive backfield. Perhaps even outside corner back, a position he never played in college. If that’s what the team needs him to do, he’ll do it.
Hill believes that the current Bengals team adopted the type of unselfish mindset he wants to bring to the table over the last year during their Super Bowl run. That unselfishness was “something that’s vital to the team,” Hill noticed of the Bengals 2021-22 group.
He also knows that developing a bond off the field is important to maintaining chemistry while on it. According to Hill, you want to “be close with your teammates outside of football” in order to be better connected during the games. And he should get along with his new teammates just fine. “I’m a personable guy — easy guy to get along with,” claims Hill. Even if he’ll rub Michigan’s 42-27 win over Ohio State last fall in the face of former Buckeyes Sam Hubbard and Vonn Bell.
What the Bengals drafted in Hill is a versatile defensive back who will show up to work with a wide smile and an open mind.

Hill reveals what advice he received from his brother on NFL
Cincinnati Bengals rookie safety Dax Hill already has a mentor with NFL experience in his older brother. A running back for the Baltimore Ravens, Justice Hill was there for his brother throughout the entire draft process.
“He’s definitely been a big supporter in my corner,” Dax Hill said in his introductory press conference. “Especially during these times right now. I’m really relying on him and not just trying to figure it out myself. He’s definitely been a big part of this process for me. Having him go through the same process has been beneficial for me. Going forward, I know what to expect as well.”
Dax Hill appeared in 33 career games at Michigan with 23 starts playing multiple roles in the secondary. He also contributed on special teams. He was an All-Big Ten honoree in 2021, racking up 69 tackles (4.5 for loss), 0.5 sacks, 11 passes defended, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
