Donovan Edwards injury: Michigan RB leaves 'The Game' vs. Ohio State after second quarter run
Michigan running back Donovan Edwards left the “The Game” against Ohio State in the second quarter following a third down run.
Edwards appeared to get rolled up between a few Ohio State defenders. He managed to get up and walk off to the sideline, albeit slowly.
The hit can be seen below.
The drive ended with a 54-yard field goal from Dominic Zvada and a 10-3 Michigan lead late in the second quarter.
At that point of the game, Edwards had four carries for 11 yards and two catches for two yards. Coming into the game, Edwards had 124 carries for 574 yards, four touchdowns and 4.7 yards per carry. He also had 16 catches for 81 yards and one touchdown.
FOX’s Jenny Taft later reported Edwards was “questionable” to return to the game after halftime.
Edwards regularly had big games against Ohio State, such as at Ohio Stadium in 2022, delivering twin 75- and 85-yard touchdown runs to seal a 45-23 victory, Michigan’s first in the venue since 2000.

Edwards was replacing star running back Blake Corum, a Heisman Trophy contender who had injured his knee the week before against Illinois, tried to give it a go in Columbus but wasn’t effective or healthy enough to stay in the game. Edwards totaled 216 rushing yards while wearing a cast and playing through pain himself.
“It’s not trying to replicate anything for me,” Edwards said Tuesday at Schembechler Hall. “It’s just doing what we have to do to win the football game. I’m not looking to … cause I found myself trying to be something I was in the past, and that past is over. So I have to look forward to what’s going to be.
“I’m not looking to replicate anything this coming game. Just looking to just do me, just have a great game as a football team and come out with a victory. That’s all our mindset is.”
