Early odds, points spreads released for three Michigan football games
Michigan is favored to win — or at least contend for — a third-straight Big Ten championship in 2023. But the road back to Indianapolis will not be easy for the Wolverines, even if Vegas likes their chances.
According to Fanduel Sportsbook, Michigan is favored to win three of the biggest games on the schedule: Michigan State, Penn State and Ohio State. By varying margins, the Wolverines are slightly favored against likely the three biggest road blocks to a Big Ten east championship.
The largest line is currently over Michigan State, where Michigan is favored by 15. The lines against the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes are much tighter. Michigan is just a 1.5-point favorite against Penn State and a 1-point favorite over Ohio State.

Much of the reason for optimism around Michigan in 2023 stems from the fact that a bulk of the offensive starters return, including Heisman candidate running back Blake Corum. Along with Corum, the Wolverines brings back quarterback J.J. McCarthy, fellow running back Donovan Edwards, interior linemen Trevor Keegan and Zak Zinter, tight end Colston Loveland and almost the entire receiver room.
Experienced offensive returners and an infusion of transfer talent — especially along the offensive line — are reason for optimism. As is a young, ascending defense. Michigan needs to replace Mazi Smith and Mike Morris on the defensive line, but have several young, intriguing talents in Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant and Derrick Moore.
All told, there’s a lot to like about the Wolverines in 2023.
