ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum believes that the national championship game should be the final game at Michigan for Jim Harbaugh.

Finebaum appeared on ESPN First Take Tuesday morning and shared that it doesn’t make sense for Harbaugh to continue coaching the Wolverines after the matchup with Washington.

“Harbaugh is very likely to leave, because it’s very possible the NCAA has already pre-determined they are going to get him, and he would be foolish to turn down the kind of money that he can make next Tuesday, a week from today, to risk going through the process,” Finebaum said. “He knows what he’s done or what he hasn’t done, but he’s going to leave.”

This isn’t the first time that Paul Finebaum has predicted that Jim Harbaugh will leave for the NFL.

Michigan fans are not happy with Finebaum for that take or for comments he made about the Michigan sign-stealing scandal.

Finebaum was in California for the Rose Bowl and heard from several upset fans.

“Michigan fans were screaming at me — I was at the Tournament of Roses parade yesterday. The SEC group had a float. I mean I was harassed. You’re not supposed to get booed at the Tournament of Roses parade. But I was, because Michigan fans were hating. And that’s fine,” Finebaum said. “They can hate anybody they want, but the point is is we didn’t do what Jim Harbaugh and Connor Stalions are accused of doing — or at least Connor Stalions because they’ve managed to get Jim out of it. But he would be a fool to stay. And he’s not a fool. He’s going to get out of there.”

Paul Finebaum walks back comments on if a Michigan national championship will be tainted

While Paul Finebaum is doubling down on his stance that Jim Harbaugh should leave for the NFL, he did walk back other comments about Michigan.

Finebaum was asked Tuesday morning if a Michigan national championship should have an asterisk.

“I don’t think so,” Finebaum said on Get Up. “And I know what I said and I know what many others said …College football right now, it is such a mess. And while a lot of us find what we believe the case to be here, to be repugnant, almost everything about college football right now is repugnant.

“So I think Michigan if they win, they’ll hoist the trophy. There’ll be haters out there, but most people I think are gonna go ‘congratulations, you are the best team.’”
