Four-star quarterback Carter Smith of Fort Myers (FL) Bishop Verot High announced his commitment to Michigan Tuesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-3, 180 pounder chose the Wolverines over Florida State, Penn State, and UCF.

“The coaching staff and all the people in the football building,” Smith said. “Everyone was very welcoming to my family and I, they treated us like we were family. The academics and just being able to be a part of such a historic program was also a big part.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.

“I’d say I’m closest with coach Campbell. I love what coach does with QBs and am excited to be able to work with him and the other quarterbacks.”

The Sunshine State quarterback joins coach Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines’ 2025 class. He is accompanied by four-star cornerback Chris Ewald and four-star defensive lineman Bobby Kanka.
