Georgia transfer linebacker Troy Bowles committed to Michigan on Saturday, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He is the son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles.

Bowles spent two years in Athens, appearing in five games as a freshman in 2023. He made two appearances in 2024 before entering the transfer portal, and he’ll have three years of eligibility remaining after preserving a redshirt.

As a freshman, Bowles totaled five tackles. He didn’t record a stat this past season before hitting the open market, and he’ll now make his way to Ann Arbor.

Sherrone Moore and Michigan have been active in the portal so far this cycle, securing one of the top transfer classes through the first two weeks of the window. As of Saturday afternoon, the Wolverines’ group checks in at No. 3, according to the On3 Team Transfer Portal Index.

The headliner of the class is former Cal-Poly offensive lineman Brady Norton, who comes in as the No. 146 overall player and No. 13-ranked IOL to hit the portal so far this cycle, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.

Michigan’s success in the portal comes after a hot run on the recruiting trail. The most notable signing, of course, is quarterback Bryce Underwood – the No. 1 overall player from the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Michigan is coming off an up-and-down first full season under Moore, who took over after Jim Harbaugh returned to the NFL following the Wolverines’ run to a national championship. UM went 7-5, but ended the year with a win it wanted most. Michigan got its fourth consecutive victory over Ohio State, marking the longest such streak in The Game since the late 1980s and early 1990s.
