Michigan LB Hayden Moore enters NCAA transfer portal
Michigan linebacker Hayden Moore has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He is the latest Wolverines player to hit the open market.
Moore didn’t play last season as a freshman and will have four years of eligibility remaining after taking a redshirt. He also held offers from Wisconsin and Texas A&M out of high school.
Moore played high school football at Regis Jesuit (Co.), where he was a three-star recruit. He was the No. 1,181 overall player and No. 8-ranked player in the state of Colorado during the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram account and Twitter account are excellent resources to stay up to date with the latest moves.
Hayden Moore is the second Michigan linebacker to enter the portal in as many days. On Monday, Semaj Bridgeman also decided to transfer after taking a redshirt year in 2023. All told, 20 players have hit the portal since the Wolverines ended their national championship drought.

Add in the 13 players selected in last week’s NFL Draft, and it’s looking like an entirely new group as Sherrone Moore takes over for Jim Harbaugh as head coach.
Michigan held its spring game earlier this month as the changing of the guard began. The biggest question mark might be at quarterback, though, after J.J. McCarthy headed to the Minnesota Vikings as the No. 10 overall pick. Three players – Alex Orji, Davis Warren and Jack Tuttle – are all battling it out for the starting job, although the spring game format didn’t provide much room for answers about who will get the first reps when fall comes around.
Transfer portal window winding down
The spring transfer portal window is just 15 days, a crammed period that could reshape the 2024 college football offseason. The portal tool was launched in 2018 to allow athletes to be more involved in the process of transferring. Athletes must notify institutions of their intent to transfer. Each school’s compliance team has 48 hours to put a name into the portal.
After an athlete is officially in the portal, there is no rush on making a decision as long as they are properly enrolled at a new institution in time for fall camp. Commitments do not have to be made during the 15-day window.
