It’s going to be a more difficult season for Michigan in 2024, according to ESPN’s Heather Dinich. With a new head coach and not much offensive production back, it could be tough sledding.

So much so, Dinich sees three losses for Michigan this coming season. Whether that is going to be detrimental to the playoff hopes of the national champions remains to be seen.

But this is certainly not last year’s Michigan Wolverines.

“Well, let’s be clear here, Michigan is not going to fall off of a cliff because Jim Harbaugh left, right,” Dinichi said on Get Up. “But to be fair, this is real. They return 23% of their offensive production from last year. That’s 123rd in the FBS. So there are a lot of new faces and new places, particularly a quarterback. When I look at this team, I see three losses Greeny: at home against Texas, at home against Oregon, and as we just talked about against the Buckeyes

“That doesn’t mean they’re out of the College Football Playoff. We don’t know if a three-loss team can get into the CFP, but it will be a lot more difficult. That’s for sure.”

Michigan not up to snuff like 2023?

Ahead of Big Ten Media Days, there’s been a lot of conversation about how Sherrone Moore can mold Michigan into his vision. He did go undefeated in the games Jim Harbaugh was suspended for last season though.

Then again, that was a loaded roster coming off back to back Big Ten titles and CFP appearances before finally winning it all.

While Moore is stepping into big shoes, replacing Harbaugh after the coach captured a national title for Michigan and returned to the NFL afterwards, he believes he’s the right man for the job. He has the support of the fanbase, and Moore’s goals for his team in 2024 don’t stray from last season’s mission.

“I think the goals always stay the same,” Moore said this spring. “The goals are to beat our rivals. Win the Big Ten. Beat Ohio State. Make the Playoff, win the Playoff. So the goals stay the same, and the process in which we do things will stay the same.

“The people are different. The people are always different, every year. So we’re just going to attack the process every day, do it how we know best and put our heads down and work.”
