WATCH: Hunter Dickinson bloody nose causes lengthy delay
In the second half of Wednesday’s game between Michigan and Penn State, Hunter Dickinson went up to block a dunk attempt by Kebba Njie. Dickinson took a shot to the face on the play, though, and had a bloody nose as a result.
It led to a lengthy delay that pushed the media timeout up 40 seconds.
Dickinson’s nose started bleeding after the play, but team doctors looked like they got it stopped shortly after. However, when he dove for a loose ball, his nose started bleeding again, and it got on the court. That meant the floor had to be cleaned, and it took the entire media timeout to get it all cleaned up.
Dickinson came back in the game with 10:55 to play once doctors finally got his nose to stop bleeding. At the time he came back, Michigan was in the midst of an impressive 14-2 run to get back out to a commanding lead over Penn State. The Nittany Lions tied things up 47-47 prior to that scoring outburst.

“I’ve talked about this on my podcast, I’m a really big fan of Coach Shrewsberry, like I think he’s one of the best offensive minds in the country. I’ve got nothing but great things to say about him, I’m a big fan of him,” Dickinson said.
Dickinson may be a fan of Shrewsberry’s offensive scheme, but not so much on the defensive end of the floor, due to Shrewsberry’s strategy of defending him.
“I will say he didn’t have me as a Curry closeout, so their scouting report they have levels, I think it’s like a Rondo close out, somebody who can’t shoot, and then another type of closeout, and then a Curry closeout is like a shooter,” Dickinson explained. “And I was kind of heartbroken to realize that I’m not a Curry, I wasn’t Rondo either so it wasn’t disrespectful, but I wasn’t a Curry.”
