Michigan’s Jack Medley was seeded No. 9 at the 2023 Big Ten Wrestling Tournament but got his payback against Rutgers’ Dean Peterson (No. 8).
Medley defeated Peterson 9-0, a major decision, in the opening round of the 125 pound bracket. Medley lost two matches to Peterson earlier this season.
Medley advanced in Session 1 to take on No. 1 Spencer Lee, the three-time national champion from Iowa.
In the second period, Medley held a 1-0 lead after an escape, but managed to score a takedown and then nearfall points with a cradle over Peterson. That gave him a 7-0 lead and all but iced the match.
