4-star QB Jadyn Davis commits to Michigan, Jim Harbaugh: 'He's putting the program in my hands'
The recruitment of Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis changed on the night of Oct. 29. After watching Michigan defeat Michigan State 29-7, the Wolverines jumped to the top of his list.
Michigan continued to stay in Davis’ mind as multiple programs — especially Ohio State — pushed for his pledge in recent weeks. Eventually, the Wolverines won out, as Davis announced his commitment to head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff on Friday.
“One of the times I vividly remember is me being in coach Harbaugh’s office and him telling me that the weight of the program’s on my shoulders,” Davis told On3. “He’s putting the program in my hands, really, and I’m gonna be the face of that Wolverine program. I held that with a lot of weight, and also, he told me he was turning down commitments and things of that sort from other guys because he was waiting on me. I’m a big loyalty guy, big relationship guy. For a man to do that to very, very highly-rated, top quarterback recruits across the country, that says a lot.”
According to Davis, he believes him and Harbaugh will flourish together in Ann Arbor. Not only are their personalities similar, but they also developed a “one-on-one” relationship throughout his recruitment.
Davis hears daily from Harbaugh and is very close with the former Michigan quarterback. The 6-foot-0.5, 190-pound signal-caller is already ready to “run through a brick wall” for him.
“That’s something I want to be a part of, where it’s not all about you walk in that locker room and it’s about individual guys,” said Davis, the No. 26 overall prospect and No. 4 quarterback in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. “It’s about the whole team coming together for one common goal, loving each other outside of the football field.”
“I love everything about Ann Arbor,” he added. “I love everything about being a Wolverine, I just can’t wait to embrace that culture and that tradition and wear that winged helmet on Saturday afternoons and nights.”
Davis believes Michigan can make him a better quarterback
Davis, who has visited Michigan between four and five times, had a crucial trip to the Wolverines on the weekend of March 18. That is because he got to meet with new quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell.

Campbell was elevated to his current position after Michigan fired Matt Weiss. Harbaugh was the first person to reach out to Davis following the change and as a result, the four-star wanted to see Campbell in-person to see how they would work together.
The two quickly hit it off.
“Coach Campbell’s my guy,” Davis said. “That obviously played a major factor as well because that’s the guy I’m gonna be in the quarterback room with… It was great to have a guy that’s gonna be my coach that I can bond with. I can really talk about anything, football, life, with him.”
Campbell and Harbaugh were not the only people to successfully recruit Davis. The four-star also got to know offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Sherrone Moore and multiple players including J.J. McCarthy, one of his “best friends.”
Davis was also pitched by multiple aspects of Michigan’s staff, including the Wolverines’ nutrition and academic team. As a result, the North Carolina native feels like he is “going into a family.”
“The fanbase is eager to win it all and bring it back to what Michigan football was at one point,” Davis said. “You can’t really get much better than the winningest program in college football history. Being a part of that pro-style offense and watching it evolve and being one of the players in charge of that and leading them to the promised land, I’m just really excited to get up to Ann Arbor and get to work and earn the respect of my teammates and work for my opportunity to start.”
