3-star IOL Jake Guarnera commits to Michigan Wolverines
Ponte Vedra Beach (Fla.) Ponte Vedra three-star interior offensive lineman Jake Guarnera has committed to Michigan. He chose the Wolverines over Florida, NC State, Penn State and Rutgers.
Guarnera is the No. 412 overall prospect and No. 29 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 60 player in Florida.
The 6-foot-4, 283-pound recruit took multiple visits to Michigan throughout his recruitment. He was most recently in Ann Arbor on March 14.
“It was great and I loved the intensity that the team showed in practice,” Guarnera told Zach Libby of The Wolverine on March 15. “It was good to see all of the different drills that the offensive linemen did and the different coaching styles of everyone on staff.”

Offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Sherrone Moore played a role in Guarnera’s decision. Moore helped the Wolverines win the Joe Moore Award, given to the top offensive line in college football, in 2021 and 2022.

(Talking to Sherrone Moore in person) was one of my favorite things about the visit,” Guarnera said. “We got to spend a lot of time together. We also went out to dinner together on both of those nights. We got almost all day Monday to do stuff together too. He said that I’ll most likely be center but I have the ability to play guard. Obviously, I don’t have the length to play tackle but I’ll be able to help out the team early on.
“The fact that he won back-to-back Joe Moore Awards and consistently puts guys into the draft. Olu (Oluwatimi) is going to get drafted pretty high this year. Moore and I were watching game film of last season and I really liked the play of Michigan’s interior part of the line.”
