Fox Sports analyst Jay Glazer dropped a little scoop on Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh ahead of Week 18 NFL action.

“Jim Harbaugh, I can tell you this, has been calling around, asking for people, in case he gets an NFL job, if they would join his staff,” Glazer shared. “So, he is interested in possibly returning to the NFL.”

Things appear to be getting more and more serious as NFL teams begin looking beyond the 2021-22 season.

Harbaugh has previous NFL coaching experience. He was with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-14. In those four years, he had a 44-19-1 record and led the 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2012.

Speculation has been swirling since The Athletic college football reporter Bruce Feldman revealed that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh might consider leaving the program for the NFL. Feldman told the Rich Eisen Show that the odds Harbaugh leaves are shockingly high.

“I honestly think it’s 50-50 right now, I honestly think it’s that much of a real thing,” Feldman said.

After going 2-4 last season, Harbaugh and Michigan completely turned things around this year. The Wolverines went 12-1 and won the Big Ten Championship to secure an Orange Bowl appearance. Michigan fell to No. 3 Georgia 33-11 in that game.

Report: Raiders an option for Harbaugh

The reports keep rolling in about Jim Harbaugh and the NFL. But a new one suggests there’s mutual interest between one team and the current Michigan headman.

On Saturday’s edition of NFL GameDay, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport shared some insight about the Harbaugh rumors. Based on his comments, a reunion between Harbaugh and the Raiders might not be out of the question.

“Jim Harbaugh has emerged as a name to watch in the NFL coaching searches,” Rapoport said. “Yes, I know he’s under contract with Michigan and it does seem there’s been some discussions about a potential new deal with Michigan. But from what I understand, talking to several sources informed of the situation, the Las Vegas Raiders — who still have a head coach and still have a chance at the playoffs — are expected to have some interest in Harbaugh. Harbaugh is expected to have some interest in the Raiders.

“Now, they’re also set to do a real search, not an anointing like they did last time with Jon Gruden, so we’ll see where this search takes them. But at the least, there is enough interest on both sides to make us think this is at least somewhat real, though as one source — who’s very well-informed of this — told me last night, Harbaugh loves to be courted. So we’ll see where this goes.”

The rumors ramped up about Harbaugh earlier this week when Feldman reported Harbaugh could entertain NFL interest. The Raiders and Chicago Bears have both come up as the week went on.
