Michigan beat Northwestern in a close, back-and-forth game that the Wolverines were able to pull out in the second half. One key player in that game was Jett Howard, who had 16 points and seven assists in the win.

After the game, Howard was asked to describe the win and the effort that Michigan showed during the game in one word.

“Resilient,” Jett Howard said. “I think we’re just resilient.”

“We understand that basketball is just a game of runs and if we don’t, if we lay down and we’re not resilient, then we wouldn’t have the outcome that we wanted. So, I feel like resilient would probably be the best word.”

At 10-7 and 4-2 in Big Ten play, it’s been an up-and-down season for the Wolverines. So, not just in this one game but all year, Michigan has needed to be resilient.

This year, Jett Howard has been an important contributor for the Wolverines, averaging 15.5 points per game.

Next up for Michigan is a trip to play the Maryland Terrapins. It will be their second meeting this season, with the Wolverines dominating their first game, 81-46.

Juwan Howard was happy with Michigan’s response against Northwestern

After the game, Michigan head coach Juwan Howard said that he was happy with how his team responded against Northwestern.

“I was extremely pleased with how our guys bounced back after a tough loss in Iowa. We could have came in with our heads down because we let one slip away…But, today, we responded. Especially when you’re talking about the first six minutes? We did a good job defensively. Knowing that Northwestern can shoot the ball extremely well, attack the paint, try to expose you on ball screens,” Howard said.

“We play against good teams in this league. [It’s] a very good, competitive league. You’re always gonna get a team’s best, whether it’s on your home court or on the road.”
