Even though it was Jim Harbaugh who brought a long awaited national title to Michigan, he’s wanted his family to celebrate the moment like it was their accomplishment.

After finally brining the Wolverines to the pinnacle of college football, Harbaugh couldn’t wait to celebrate with his family. They’ve been his biggest supporters, since the day he was named the head coach of the program.

After lifting the trophy that’s long eluded Michigan, Harbaugh took some time to reflect, and describe how much it meant to have his family celebrate the Wolverines’ title win with him.

“It was the best. It felt the best,” Harbaugh said. “It was great to see all our families down there shoulder to shoulder. Hugged my dad and he hugged me so hard. His head like cut the bridge of my nose, my glasses — I should have took my glasses off. But it felt great. Mom, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, just everybody, all the families together was beautiful, a beautiful thing. Felt great.

“I remember it well. (The day he was introduced as Michigan’s head coach) It was a very cold, wintry day. Temperatures in the minuses. But what a day. We loved the changes of the seasons in Ann Arbor. Love these guys. Love the way they rise to the challenge. They never get bitter; they get better. Just a great time. A lot of things you’re thinking about, nostalgia and things, and just a really good feeling. Thank you for the question.”

Harbaugh accomplished what he set out to do in Ann Arbor, but what’s next for him is intriguing to the rest of the football world. After capturing a national title, the Michigan head coach wasn’t giving away any indicators of his plan.

“It was such a great feeling last night celebrating and really cool to wake up this morning and it wasn’t a dream,” Harbaugh said, following the victory. “That was real and it felt almost just as good as last night. We want to take a happy flight back to Ann Arbor, Michigan.

“The guys want a parade. So, gosh darn it, let’s give them a parade. I’m looking forward to that too. Then we’ll see what happens. No man knows the future. Nobody can predict that. That’s biblical, and right now feels pretty darn good.”

Time will tell if Jim Harbaugh and his family move on to another team in 2024. Nevertheless, he’ll always be the man who brought Michigan an undefeated national title, making good on his original promise.
