Jim Harbaugh opens up about new transfer defensive lineman Cam Goode
Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh is excited to see what’s in store for UCF transfer defensive lineman Cam Goode. The talented senior is set to make an impact for the Wolverines defense in 2022 after a standout season with the Knights this past year.
Harbaugh compared Goode’s transition into the Michigan program to that of offensive lineman and Remington finalist Olusegun Oluwatimi, who transferred in from Virginia this offseason. When Oluwatimi arrived this spring, he immediately got to work to earn the respect of his teammates.
That’s exactly the mindset Harbaugh hopes Goode adopts as he joins the team for summer workouts.
“Tomorrow is the first day of the summer cycle and (Goode will) have the ability to show what he can do,” Harbaugh said. “(Oluwatimi) is a great example of somebody who was very successful at Virginia and then came to Michigan. He was all about his business. Just went about working on the field and in the weight room. He could have easily been the kind of guy that came in and said, ‘I’m a starter, I’m a Remington finalist, etc.’ None of that. He just got to work and gained the respect of everybody on the football team. So he had the opportunity to do that and Cam Goode will have the opportunity to do that. We’ll see what happens.”
Goode did not have the benefit of being with the team this spring, as he committed to the Wolverines on April 22. With that being the case, he will have to make sure to leave a good first impression on his coaches and teammates.

Goode was a regular contributor for the Knights this past season, leading the team with four forced fumbles in addition to 23 tackles, three sacks and three passes defended. A former three-star recruit, he was ranked as the No. 606 overall recruit and No. 61 defensive tackle in the 2018 class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average.
The Wolverines could certainly use some help on the defensive line after Aidan Hutchinson and Chris Hinton departed for the NFL this offseason. Michigan also saw defensive line coach Shaun Nua leave to take a job at USC.
After the conclusion of summer workouts, Cam Goode will get his first opportunity to stand out to Jim Harbaugh when the Wolverines open the 2022 season on Sept. 3 against Colorado State.
