Jim Harbaugh tells hilarious backstory on his daughter's viral TikToks during family vacation
In June, Jim Harbaugh went viral on TikTok. He hadn’t planned on it or expected it. Instead, during an eleven-hour layover while on a family vacation to Italy, his daughter filmed him and posted the videos on TikTok. The videos had more than a million views in just 24 hours.
Jim Harbaugh was asked about this during Big Ten Media Days. He cleared the air, telling his side of the story.
“It was eleven hours in the Rome airport,” Jim Harbaugh said. “Because the Boston flight got delayed, something about the catering. They told us something about that by the time we got to Rome. Anyway, it was great just being with the family…Probably the best part, though, is 10 family members, no fights.”
“Grace, of course, put that on her TikTok (which he pronounced Tic Tac),” said Jim Harbaugh. “It took me like three of those TikTok videos until I finally go, ‘What’re you doing? What are you with that phone, Grace? Are you tracking me?’ And there’s these videos out here.”

Jim Harbaugh learned a lesson when he became Airport Jim. It’s hard to tell when you’re being filmed by your kid. You also never know when that video is going to go viral on social media. Harbaugh took it in stride, though, laughing, “You never know.”
Jim Harbaugh is no stranger to going viral
Clearly, the Michigan head coach is no stranger to viral stories surrounding him. That includes recently taking a dunk tank plunge while at Carnival. Other times in his career, it’s been for things like wearing khaki pants or just liking milk. By now, Jim Harbaugh has to know how to take these things in stride.
Michigan hopes that Harbaugh and company will be able to make headlines on the field in 2022 and build off an incredibly successful 2021 season. If they can build on that success, there’s no reason why the Wolverines couldn’t win the Big Ten and potentially go to the College Football Playoff again.
